A page from the motoring website, topcarnews.co.uk, written by 16-year old William Savage has been chosen as winner of this year’s Phil Lewellin award, The Phil.
William’s entry was picked from a record number of over 40 entries for the Phils 2015. Writing to the brief ‘my perfect car and the journey I’d take in it’, William described a journey through the Furka Pass in an Aston Martin Vanquish.
His entry impressed judges with its creative use of the medium, humour and attention to detail. The web page (view it here) included a map of the route and even a video clip of the James Bond car chase through the Pass from the movie, Goldfinger.
Such was the quality of the entries that the judges decided to award runner-up prizes to two other entries. Rohan Prasad-Weitz (16) took second place for his imaginative account of a driver through France in a Saab 900 while James Bennie (14) was third with his tightly written and creative story of an Aston Martin One-77 and the Mont Blanc tunnel.
