Two members of MGMW were among the 26,000 amateur cyclists who took to the streets of London at the end of July for the RideLondon100 event.
This 100-mile ride on closed roads through London and out into Surrey is the cycling equivalent of the London Marathon. It starts in the Olympic Park and finishes on The Mall, outside Buckingham Palace, taking in such famous climbs as Box Hill, near Dorking along the way.
Richard Aucock was part of a Continental Tyres team and had a clear run to complete the route in an impressive 4hr 56m – that’s a fraction under 20mph average speed. Meanwhile Rupert Saunders, riding for the Spinal Injuries Association, managed a slightly more leisurely 5hr 59m – an average of around 16.7mph.
