How to Join
The MGMW welcomes applications from anyone working across the broad spectrum of automotive journalism and media. If you live or work in the Midlands and produce original content about cars, we’d love to hear from you.
Are You Eligible?
Membership is open to anyone living or working within the qualifying region who is involved in the production of a significant volume of editorial material of an original and objective nature in the field of automotive media of any form.
We have recently updated our constitution to reflect the growing number of professionals working beyond traditional print. Whether you write for a national newspaper, run an automotive website, produce video content or contribute to a podcast, if motoring media is your craft, there is a place for you in the MGMW.
The qualifying region covers West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
What Are the Benefits?
Joining the MGMW gives you access to a network of experienced automotive journalists and industry contacts across the region. Members benefit from invitations to regional press drives and launch events, keeping you connected with vehicle manufacturers and the wider motor industry.
The Group has been representing Midlands motoring media since 1989, and with members publishing across print, digital and broadcast, it remains the essential regional network for anyone working in automotive media today.
How Do I Apply?
The application process is straightforward. Get in touch with our Secretary, who will talk you through the process and supply an application form. You will be asked to provide recent examples of your work to demonstrate that you meet the membership criteria.
Your application will then be considered by the Committee at its next meeting. Before it is put to the membership for a vote, your name and brief particulars will be circulated to existing members asking for their observations.
What Does Membership Cost?
Membership fees are set annually at the Group’s AGM. Please get in touch for current subscription rates (circa £40 per year).
