Motor Verso’s Paul Hadley attended the official UK press launch of the Lepas L8 last week, joining fellow motoring writers for the brand’s first outing on British soil.
The event was held at The Langley, a grand country house hotel set within its own parkland near Iver in Buckinghamshire. Cars lined up in front of the mansion’s sweeping stone staircase, finished in a striking range of colours from Expressive Emerald to a rather eye-catching shade of purple, with the Lepas name spelled out in bold orange lettering beside the ornamental fountain at the front of the house. It made for an impressive backdrop, and the setting alone told journalists that this was a launch Lepas wanted to be taken seriously.

Welcome From The Lepas Brand
The day began with a welcome brunch before Lepas’ UK team ran through the brand’s positioning and the L8’s specification in detail.
Guests then got into cars for the main event: a drive experience taking in the surrounding countryside, followed by a relaxed barbecue lunch on the hotel’s Winter Garden terrace. An optional second drive and further content capture rounded off the afternoon, alongside interviews with senior Lepas figures for those who wanted more background on the brand’s plans for the UK market.
Paul reports that the weather played its part nicely, with warm sunshine and light cloud making for pleasant driving conditions and giving the parkland setting a proper summer feel. The Langley’s grounds, all rolling grass and mature trees, gave the L8 plenty of room to stretch its legs away from the fuss of a test track or a busy press office car park.
Lepas First Impressions
As for the car itself, Paul came away impressed. The L8 is Lepas’ opening statement in the UK, a plug-in hybrid SUV built around comfort, refinement and generous equipment rather than outright pace or drama, and on first acquaintance it delivers exactly that brief. Composed on the road, well finished inside, and backed by a lengthy warranty, it looks a genuinely credible newcomer rather than a name to be dismissed.
Credit is also due to the Lepas events team, who kept the day running smoothly from registration through to departure. PR staff were on hand throughout to answer questions and make sure journalists had everything they needed, a level of organisation that reflects well on a brand keen to make the right first impression with the UK motoring press.
It was, by all accounts, a well-judged launch for a manufacturer with plenty riding on it. Lepas has arrived with a car worth talking about, and on this evidence, it has arrived with the confidence to match.
